Overview

This course teaches you how to design, build, deploy, and refine custom copilots using Microsoft Copilot Studio. You’ll start by creating an initial copilot, then learn to organize conversations with topics, capture information with entities and variables, and enhance your solutions with Microsoft Power Platform integrations.

By the end, you will have practiced the full lifecycle—building, testing, publishing, and iterating—culminating in a guided project that connects your copilot to Dataverse for Teams and real business scenarios.

Who Should Attend

Power Platform app makers, developers, consultants, IT pros, and business analysts who want to add conversational intelligence to solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio.

Prerequisites

Basic familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse data modeling and Copilot Studio. Experience with the Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) is helpful but not required.

COURSE OUTLINE

Build an Initial Copilot with Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Copilot Studio overview and Generative AI features
  • Create a new copilot with the conversational builder
  • Configure conversation behavior and settings
  • Publish and deploy a copilot to a target environment

Manage Topics in Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Use topics to design and manage conversation paths
  • Work with topic triggers and conversation nodes
  • Add branching to control dialogue flow
  • Create topics from existing support content
  • Set up fallback topics for unrecognized input

Work with Entities and Variables in Microsoft Copilot Studio

  • Understand built-in and custom entities
  • Capture and use entities in conversations
  • Define variables and maintain state across topics
  • Reuse variables to personalize and streamline interactions

Enhance Microsoft Copilot Studio Copilots

  • Initiate Power Automate flows from within topics
  • Hand off conversations to Omnichannel for Customer Service
  • Import or extract content to generate usable topics
  • Tune Generative AI responses and trigger behavior
  • Review analytics to monitor and improve performance

Create a Copilot with Microsoft Copilot Studio and Dataverse for Teams

  • Build a copilot in a Teams environment
  • Modify topics and add inputs, variables, and conditions
  • Call actions to read and write Dataverse for Teams data
  • Publish and share the copilot with a team or the organization

Create Copilots with Microsoft Copilot Studio (Guided Project)

  • Prepare the environment and prerequisites
  • Create custom tables as needed for the scenario
  • Build a bot using the latest AI capabilities
  • Create and manage topics for end-to-end flows
  • Set up and validate Generative AI features
