Microsoft Office is a suite of business applications. It typically includes Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint plus other applications depending the suite you purchase. Each application serves a different purpose, is compatible with the other programs within the suite, and gives you the ability to create and share documents with an easy-to-use interface and powerful tools.

Microsoft Office 365 / 2016 are the latest version of the suite. Office 2013 and Office 2010 remain popular so you'll also find classes for those versions on our class schedule below.

Microsoft Office vs. Office 365

Put simply, the main difference is owning versus renting the software. The standard software programs within the Office suite, such as Excel, Word and so on, are the same for Office 365 and Office 2016.

With Microsoft Office you purchase the software outright—you buy it for a one-time fee, install it on your computer and it’s yours.

Office 365 is a subscription to the software so you're renting it. You can get to all of the Office programs like Excel, Word, and so on via the cloud and on different types of devices—PC, Mac, tablets. Depending on the subscription type you've selected you might also have apps like Teams, Yammer, Flow, PowerApps, Delve, Sway, Skype to name a few.
