Microsoft's Online Proctored (OP) Exam Delivery allows you to take a certification exam in the comfort of your home or office while being monitored by an offsite proctor.
This delivery option is available for most MTA, MCSA, MCSE and MCSD exams.
Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exams are not available for online proctored delivery.
Exams may not be available in all countries and languages. Additionally, greeter support, proctor support, and proctoring software are only available in English.
Microsoft's OP exam delivery system has very specific technical, system, environment, and testing protocol requirements. To maintain the integrity of proctored exams in an online/webcam setting, very specific policies, practices, and procedures are enforced. Here are just some of the specifics from the Microsoft web site.
Office or home setting
Your office or home setting must meet the following requirements:
Communicating with the greeter and proctor:
Scan of Work-area:
With your webcam, or by lifting and rotating your laptop, you are asked to scan slowly left to right to show surrounding walls and to scan up and down to show the floor and ceiling. If you are unable to complete a room scan, you are not permitted to proceed further or to take the exam.
You are then asked to scan your entire work area. The proctor is looking for security risks, including but not limited to:
The work area should be clear of all materials, including the following items, which are not allowed within arm’s reach: books, notepads, Post-it notes, typed notes/papers, or writing instruments (such as pens, markers, or pencils). Whiteboards should be wiped clean.
While a Pearson Vue testing center will provide you with an erasable white board on which you can take notes during the exam, this is not allowed in an online proctored environment. If you wish to take notes during the exam, you should schedule your exam for a Pearson VUE test center. The exam is identical regardless of the delivery method.
No personal belongings
During the exam, you may not access the following types of personal items: hand-held computers or other electronic devices, pagers, watches, wallets, purses, hats (or other head coverings), bags, coats, books, notes, or any other materials not specifically approved.
You are asked to turn out all your pockets so the greeter can see that they are empty.
No exam assistance
You must review and accept Microsoft's requirements before you can register for an online exam. Review Online Proctored Exam requirements and FAQs.
If all requirements are confirmed and met, select your exam from Microsoft's exam list. If Microsoft is offering online proctored delivery for that exam you will be able to select that option during the exam registration process.
Online Proctored Exam Delivery is a Microsoft program and therefore subject to their requirements, restrictions, limitations and offerings.
