What our Students say about Remote Classroom Instruction

Taking a remote class is a little different from being in the room with the instructor.  We acknowledge the RCI classes are not for everyone.  If you are not comfortable managing multiple applications concurrently or have English as a second language, you might be more comfortable taking a class with the instructor present.

Most students quickly get accustomed to the remote environment.  There are people who actually prefer taking an RCI class — they comment that they are able to move about freely during the class, are not distracted by other students and are really able to focus more intently on the content and the labs.

In fact, over 92% of RCI students say that they would take another course in that format.  Here are just some of the comments that we've received:

This was an excellent course. The remote classroom setup made it feel like I was still in the classroom with the instructor.
-- Lee P.

The technology worked out surprisingly well even though I was doing remote learning. -- Kathleen N.

The instructor treated me as if I was in the classroom. -- Diane B.

Well done. Excellent instructor, top facility. The remote learning setup worked very well. -- Steve N.

I felt the distance learning was almost as effective as if the instructor was in the room. This technology was new to me, but the convenience of having the option to do it this way, and not have the class rescheduled was important. I would do it this way again. -- Pat T.

Patty was a great instructor and the RCI experience was better than I thought it would be. Not having the presenter in the room allowed me to focus on the computer(s) without "being distracted" by the presenter!
-- Coreen H.

I would confidently recommend this format to my colleagues. -- Jody V.

Video Commentary on Remote Classroom Instruction

This student was initially hesitant to take RCI course. During the class, she confessed that she actually liked it better than a traditional class. There were fewer distractions and she got more individualized attention.
Great Facility and Amenities with No Delays in RCI
Student took Network Plus class and thought the facility and accommodations were first class. Network speed was great, no delays. He would take another RCI class anytime without hesitation.
Two Students Listen to Lecture After Whiteboard Session
Two co-workers watched the instructor illustrate a concept on the whiteboard. Then they listened to the instructor’s follow up comments.
Government Worker Evaluation: Would Take Another RCI Class
A government worker was given the option of taking a class in a traditional or RCI format. His team elected to take the RCI course so they could evaluate the training method. His conclusion? He would take another RCI course if given the chance.
Student Follows Along with Instructor Demonstration
Watch a student follow an instructor's demonstration. With the separate monitor for the instructor, the student can easily see the instructor's demonstration. With the clear audio conferencing she can listen to the directions as well.
Hospital Education Employee Has Exceptional RCI Instructor
A hospital research education employee needed to take a Flash class so she could start created e-learning modules. Instead of traveling, she opted to take the class locally but through RCI. She had an “exceptional” instructor. In fact, the instructor was able to take over the student’s computer and get her out of trouble during a class lab.
Instructor Uses Video to Facilitate Introductions
It always helps when you can put a face to a voice. Although RCI classes do not use video continuously throughout a training session, there are times when video is employed. One example is during the introductions on the first day of class. In addition, many instructors turn on the camera during transitions times in the class such as after lunch or a break.
Students Listen to Lecture
Two students listen and watch as instructor provides some additional background information related to the class.
