Is RCI Right for Me?

Self-evaluation tools. Taking a remote class is a little different from being in the room with the instructor. We acknowledge that a class via RCI is not for everyone. If you are tentative with technology or have English as a second language, you might be more comfortable taking a class with the instructor present. Use the self-evaluation tools on this page to help you determine whether a remote learning environment is right for you.

2. Evaluate your Computer Skills
You need good PC skills for a successful RCI experience. Use the questions below to check your skills.
  • Do you know how to open a file from within an application?

  • Do you know how to navigate to another drive or folder in the Open dialog box?

  • Do you know how to maximize, minimize and restore windows?

  • Do you know how to use the taskbar to switch between open documents within an application?

  • Do you know how to switch between open applications?

  • Do you know how to select text by clicking and dragging?

  • Can you identify the following elements of the Windows environment?

    • The Start menu
    • The taskbar
    • menus
