Kenneth Edward "Pete" Shaw is the Mt. Holly Pro Day 2022 honoree. Born August 25, 1954 in Newark, NJ, Shaw was nicknamed Pete as a child after his father bought him a pair of toy six-shooters and dubbed him Two-Gun Pete. He grew up in awe of his older brother Woody Shaw Jr. (10 years his senior) who became one of the great jazz band leaders and trumpeters of the 1960s and 1970s and was a Grammy-nominated musician. Pete attended Barringer High School in Newark, NJ where he was a standout student and athlete. He was heavily recruited for both his athletic and academic prowess.  Having received multiple scholarship offers from Ivy League and powerhouse football universities, Shaw accepted a scholarship to Northwestern University. There he double-majored in Biology and History. He played all four years and captained the football squad under coach John Pont. Though at the time Northwestern's team did not rack up many wins, Shaw's hard-hitting style of play and his tough, no nonsense attitude caught the eye of several NFL scouts.  Drafted in 1977 in the 6th round by the San Diego Chargers, Pete was a jack of all trades for the team. He was a starting defensive back for three seasons and a valuable special teams player. As a San Diego Charger, Shaw intercepted 12 passes and helped the Chargers reach the playoffs in both 1979 and 1981.  Shaw returned east for his final three NFL seasons, joining the NY Giants in 1982. As an experienced player he was a natural leader on special teams and one of the Giants primary punt returners in 1983, averaging 8.1 yards per return. During his tenure, Shaw played for some of the greatest coaches in football history including Don Coryell, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick. All recognized Shaw's strong leadership qualities and intelligent play. Accomplishments while in the NFL include:
 Shaw retired from the NFL in 1985 and put his academic prowess to work as a sports agent then moved into finance. Today he is a Wells Fargo Financial Advisor for High Net Worth clientele. Pete lives in Southern California with his wife Kari. He actively supports several foundations and organizations that do extraordinary work for the improvement of others.
