Donald Richard "Dino" Hall is the Mt. Holly Pro Day 2021 honoree. Born December 6, 1955 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Dino attended Pleasantville High School where he was an accomplished athlete for the Greyhounds. After high school, Dino stayed in NJ to attend Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). While at Glassboro, Hall excelled on two fields—football and baseball. On the baseball diamond Hall played principally as an outfielder from 1975 to 1978. He was named the team MVP in 1977 and helped the team win the 1978 NCAA Division III baseball championship. Dino still holds a share in several school records, including stole bases in a season (46) and career (97) and stolen base percentage (.924). On Glassboro's gridiron Dino's accomplishments include:
Though the cards seemed to be stacked against him playing in the NFL—undersized (5'7", 165 lbs.), not playing for a major college football program, and not being drafted—play he did! Dino was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in 1979 as a Running Back and Return Specialist. As a rusher, Hall rushed for 194 yards and one touchdown on 27 rushing attempts. It is especially impressive that Hall’s 7.2 average yards per rushing attempt ranks second, among players with at least 20 rushing attempts, in Browns career regular season history. As a receiver he caught 11 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown. During Hall’s five seasons with the Browns, Cleveland had only one losing season, made the playoffs in two seasons, and won its division in one season. NFL career statistics:
Hall wore jersey #26 and finished his NFL career in 1983 with the Browns. Following the NFL, Hall returned to NJ as a teacher and coach at his alma mater of Pleasantville High School. In 2014, Hall was inducted into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Dino Hall on your accomplishments both on and off of the field!
