Coach Bill Gordon was one of the founders of Mt. Holly Pro Day. He was posthumously honored at Mt. Holly Pro Day 2001. Born August 1926 in Ocean City, NJ, Coach Gordon is a University of Delaware graduate and began his teaching and coaching career at Manasquan High School in New Jersey. While there he was introduced to his wife Bobby and they married in 1952. Shortly thereafter, Gordon received a call from the principal of what was then Mt. Holly High School and later renamed Rancocas Valley Regional High School to interview for the position of Head Football Coach. Gordon took the job in 1953 and became one of the most successful coaches in South Jersey history, guiding the Red Devils to seven championships and two unbeaten seasons. Donning a clean-shaven head, sports shirt, glasses, and a clipboard in his hand, Gordon compiled a 151-105-16 over a 30-year career as coach of the Red Devils when he retired in 1982. He was the county's all-time winningest coach until 1998.
Gordon had many star players including Franco Harris and Irving Fryar. Fryar nominated Gordon for the NFL's first High School Coach of the Year award in 1995. Recognizing his success both on and off the field, the NFL named Gordon as one of only five finalists nationwide.

Coach
Gordon returned to the gridiron in 1993�the year after he retired as a guidance
counselor at the high school�as an assistant coach to then-coach David Riley.
"The only reason I'm here is because I just wanted to help out," Gordon
told the Burlington County Times in August 1993. "Besides, it gives
me something to do and keeps me from getting into trouble." 
Coach Gordon was elected
to the South Jersey Football Hall of Fame, presented with the New Jersey State
Interscholastic Athletic Association's highest achievement award and was named
a distinguished citizen of the South Jersey chapter of the National College Football
Hall of Fame. He was also a co-founder of the Burlington County Football
Club and was active in the Brooks-Irvine Football Club.
Coach
Gordon will be remembered dearly by Mt. Holly, his friends, and his family for
all of his contributions both on and off of the football field.
