START WITH MCSA...

Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) SQL Server 2012 certification validates that you have acquired the essential skills and knowledge to develop, run, and maintain the next wave of advanced database and information solutions.

NOTE: No MCSA: SQL Server 2014 credential will be offered by Microsoft. MCSA: SQL Server 2012 is the prerequisite for both the MCSE Data Platform and MCSE Business Intelligence certifications. You can earn MCSA SQL Server 2012 by passing three exams.

CONTINUE WITH MCSE (Data Platform OR Business Intelligence)...


Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer (MCSE) certification demonstrates your indispensable expertise to build enterprise-scale data solutions on-premises or in the cloud. There are two SQL Server 2012 MCSE credentials: Data Platform, Business Intelligence. For either track you will need to first earn the MCSA SQL Server 2012 certification (above) then pass the two exams for the designated MCSE track.



MCSE: Data Platform Certification Path
MCSE Data Platform certification validates your ability to administer high-availability solutions on the SQL Server 2012 platform. Candidates who earn MCSE certification for SQL Server 2012 will be required to recertify every three years.

NEWS & OFFERS


SQL Server 2014 Certification News

Per Microsoft, SQL Server 2014 certifications will only be offered at the MCSE level. The new product features focus on performance tuning and high availability and are best suited for the MCSE level. As a result, the following updates are planned:

  • The MCSA: SQL Server 2012 credential and associated exams (461/462/463) will remain in market without any alterations. No MCSA: SQL Server 2014 credential will be offered.

  • As of April 2014, the MCSE: Data Platform (464/465) and MCSE: Business Intelligence (466/467) exams were appropriately updated with SQL Server 2014 topics. The exam numbers remained the same.

Retirement of SQL Server 2008 & 2005 Exams
Microsoft certification exams for SQL Server 2005 were retired on June 30, 2011. The upgrade exams from version 2005 to version 2008 were retired in 2012. Some SQL Server 2008 certifications have already been retired with the remaining SQL Server 2008 exams retiring July 31, 2016.

MCSE Recertification Requirement
Candidates who earn any of the MCSE certifications for SQL Server will be required to recertify every three years.
