5 IT Certifications to Help Launch Your Career in 2019 ONLC Training Centers

Certifications are an important component in many fields but are particularly valued within Information Technology. Certifications prove to employers that you have the training and knowledge to be a highly valuable addition to their organization. Certifications are not usually easy to obtain since you have to take several examinations to achieve them.

When you’re ready to jumpstart your career in 2019, getting a certification in your area of expertise (or outside of your expertise) may be the ticket. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular certifications and their areas of specialization and intended audiences.

1. Microsoft

If you work for a Microsoft based IT shop, you are most likely familiar with their certification levels. The technical track involves three exams on the road to becoming either an MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert) which is generally geared towards networking, or an MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) which is the programming equivalent. These certifications are highly prized in the Microsoft technology world and can even result in discounts for your employer. Many employers will even pay for your training and exam fees to have a certified employee on staff.

2. Cisco

Most of the hardware that modern networks run on today are created by Cisco or have Cisco components or interface with Cisco components. This certification is very important to network administrators and engineers because it demonstrates that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to build and maintain computer networks of varying sizes both on-premises and in the cloud. The CCENT, CCNA, and CCNP certifications comprise this area of expertise.

3. Adobe

Adobe Certifications are the equivalent of Microsoft Certifications except that they are aimed at a more creative audience. Adobe has been the standard in creative software for decades with programs such as Photoshop, Acrobat, Dreamweaver, and Illustrator. Obtaining an Adobe certification lets prospective employers know that you have the ability to run these powerful software applications. You can become an Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) in any of the applications offered in the Adobe suite of creative tools.

4. CompTIA

CompTIA certifications are unique because they are platform and software agnostic. They can be obtained in addition to the previously mentioned certifications to demonstrate that you are committed to continued learning in your IT career. Several certifications are offered in different areas of IT including A+, Network+, Project+, Security+, and Server+.

5. Oracle

Oracle continues to be one of the most popular relational database management systems (RDMS) in the IT industry and other scientific fields. Oracle can be used across different software platforms and technology disciplines, which makes it one of the most popular database platforms in existence. If your preferred technology track is database management, development, or administration, an Oracle 12c or 11g certification can help boost your career.

A certification exists for almost every discipline in Information Technology. Obtaining a certification can be challenging, but it’s designed to expand your skills and the end result is more than worth your time and effort — ask anyone who has one!
