"Since I started at Online I have been able to take advantage of many learning opportunities. In addition to taking technical training such as our Certified NetWare Engineer and our A+ programs, I have also improved my soft skills by learning how to work on a team and how to use dialogue.

The Journey is the Reward

We're always learning. From mistakes, from each other, from our clients. In addition to learning about the latest advances in computer technology, we learn new ways of working together. Over the last few years, we have all strived to become a Learning Organization. We practice and teach each other innovative communication techniques such as Dialogue and Mind Mapping. These techniques help us understand and accept each other. We're encouraged to work on special project teams where we experience the energy created from being part of a great team.

To be successful here, we must challenge what we have learned from previous work experiences. Online is different and the traditional rules don't always apply. How are we different? Dialogue

Expect a manager to tell you what to do? Not here. We don't have traditional managers. We have an informal, non-bureaucratic atmosphere and a very flat management structure. This encourages collaborative decision making where everyone shares their perspective.

Think conflict is bad? We are learning to embrace it. When we have integrity we can tell each other what we truly think. When we skillfully resolve conflict we can learn from each other, and create understanding or shared vision

Sometimes all of this learning is painful, but without pain there is no growth. We work in a learning lab where we never "arrive" - the journey is our reward.
