Overview
This 5-day class will get your development team up and running quickly with Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010.

This class is designed for individuals or complete development teams who need to learn how to use Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and TFS 2010 for agile software development. This course covers project management, agile team development, test management strategies, and TFS systems administration.

This course can also be taught onsite at your facilities and can be custom-tailored to meet the needs of team members and place emphasis specific job roles to ensure a successful TFS deployment.

Course Outline

Unit 1: Team Development
■Introduction and Overview of Visual Studio ALM
■Introduction to Work Item Tracking and Work Item queries
■Understanding your process template
■Use multiple client interfaces including Web Access, Team Explorer and Microsoft Office
■Use the Project Portal correctly and store project artifacts in the best location

Unit 2: TFS Implementation and Administration
■Plan the deployment of a TFS 2010 environment
■Install and configure TFS 2010 and its prerequisite components
■Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance
■Create a backup plan for the TFS infrastructure
■Create team projects and team project collections

Unit 3: Managing and Monitoring TFS Projects
■Initiate a new Team Project in TFS 2010
■Requirements Management in TFS 2010
■Managing work and maintaining quality
■Leveraging bi-directional traceability
■Reporting and creating custom reports

Unit 4: Agile Development with TFS
■Link work with tasks and enable traceability
■Use the version control system effectively including configuring workspaces
■Branch and merge source control
■Ensure quality with Unit Testing, Coded UI tests, Code Coverage and Intellitrace
■Automate your builds

Unit 5: TFS Testing Strategies
■Describe the testing capabilities of Visual Studio 2010
■Create and manage test plans, test suites and test configurations
■Execute tests using the Microsoft Test Runner
■Create actionable, high quality bug reports
■Understand the benefits of Lab Management
