Certified Application Developer (MCAD) This certification is an excellent stepping stone as MCAD exams count toward MCSD certification. Certification Requirement: Pass three authorized exams—one core exam focused on either Web Application Development or XML Windows Application Development in the language of your choice; one Web Services and Server Components core exam; one elective exam for a specific Microsoft server.
